We have had a very busy weekend. The holidays brings the busy time for us.
Friday: Christmas Parade and Dickens of a Christmas
Miss Talicee had never been to a parade. So we decided that we would go to the parade and then do Dickens of a Christmas. This is something that we like to do each year. It is only on Friday nights during the month of December. Miss Talicee loved the parade. We had a perfect place to see all of the activities and then get candy. This was her favorite part of the parade. After the parade we walked around the Dickens of a Christmas. Many characters from the play where there. Trevor and Scrooge met up. Trevor stood his ground. We ate funnel cake, drank hot chocolate and hot apple cider. We saw many friends that we don't see a lot. The weather was perfect. It was just cold enough to give you the Christmas spirit.
Saturday: Baking Day and Santa Claus
Every since Tyler was a baby, we have picked a Saturday out of the month of December and considered it our baking day. This Saturday was our baking day. Each child got to pick what they wanted to bake or make. Tyler chose fudge. I have a really really easy recipe. He made 2 batches of that. Taylor wanted to make sausage balls. He did it all by himself. Trevor made Everything but the Kitchen Sink cookies. I helped him measure, but he did most of the work. Miss Talicee wanted to make sugar cookies. Since there were a lot of cookies to decorate, each person got in on the fun. I do have to say that they did a really good job on decorating them. Randy made his cheese ball. I thought it was really good. I was going to make a lowfat dessert, but some how my coconut disappeared. (I do think my daughter has done something with it, like many other things). Everyone had a good time just listening to Christmas music and being together.
Randy, Trevor, Miss Talicee and I headed out to a Christmas party at one of my customer's house. What a beautiful house she has. It was decorated in every room. The food was to die for. Needless to say, my weight loss class has gone by the wayside right now. After visiting for a while, we took Trevor and Miss Talicee to see Santa. I was not real sure about her. When we walked in, she clung to me like a magnet. Trevor went up to him and sat on his lap. We slowly made our way there. After about 30 minutes of slowly moving up to him, she actually sat on his lap. At first she was not real sure, but after a while she got a little more relaxed. I was so proud of her for doing this. We had talked about this all week. She even told Santa what she wanted. That would be a teapot, baby, bottle. Wonder if she will get this? I just love the pictures of her on Santa's lap.
Sunday: Family Pictures and Christmas Caroling
We finish out our busy weekend with going to church. Since it is our last Sunday at church, will be traveling the next 2 weeks, we all dressed up and had family pictures made at church. The church looked so pretty, so why not use it. It was nice to see everyone dressed in their best. Before our Awana time, we did some Christmas caroling. Trevor, Miss Talicee and I bundled up and faced the cold and the high winds. We rode in a wagon with hay around the neighborhoods. Trevor enjoyed it. Miss Talicee got really, really cold. We came in and had hot chocolate and cookies. Miss Talicee loved this part. Anything that has to do with food, she loves. We have a manager scene in the foyer of the Children's department and Miss Talicee just kept talking to baby Jesus while we waited for class to start. I can't believe how fast the Holidays are going. Next year is just around the corner. We are having so much fun this year with Miss Talicee. She is understanding more and more of the special time.
We still have a few parties this week to attend and then we are off to spend time with family and friends. Can't wait to see the smiling faces on Christmas morning.
